Before the arrival of tourism, when most of the population did fishing for a living, this beach was used as a harbour because it was sheltered from the northern winds. Its name comes from the pebbles (còdols) with which this beach was made out of in that time.
It is located just below the Codolar or Homage Tower, one of the main towers of the Vila Vella ramparts.
The southern stretch of the coastal path, which ends here, offers magnificent views of the Vila Vella ramparts and the beach.
Access to the Codolar beach is by means of a flight of stairs.
The rocky environment on the right side of the beach is the home to many small fishes that will delight snorkel lovers.
