Biosphere is a sustainability certification with international recognition.<\/p>\n

Biosphere develops certifications to guarantee compliance with the principles of sustainability and continuous improvement, through a private, voluntary and independent certification system.<\/p>\n

Some of the benefits of sustainable tourism are: minimum environmental impact; it encourages the responsible consumption; it generates economic benefits from the flora and fauna resources; it contributes to intercultural tolerance; it promotes restoration, conservation and use of archaeological sites and monuments; it improves the local population\u2019s life quality; it promotes the improvement of infrastructures; it generates local employment and stimulates the development of tourist companies, among many other things.<\/p>\n

Tossa de Mar has decided to stand for sustainability as a central matter within the tourist activity.\u00a0 The destination has the most of its surface classified as natural protected area and has been one of the first villages applying environmental criteria in the municipal management.\u00a0 As a result of its commitment with sustainability and the natural environment, Tossa de Mar was certified in 2018 as a Biosphere Destination<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
